What are you all doing for the long weekend? We’re going camping a couple hours from here at Arroyo Seco. Andria is going to be relaxing on the beach (pictured above) for the entire week. Sure, I’m excited about camping, but also insanely jealous of Andria’s beach vacay. The Gulf Coast is one of the most beautiful, relaxing places I’ve ever vacationed.
So, we’re taking next week off from blogging so Andria can completely unplug while at the beach, and so I can ruminate over the fact I’m not there with her. If you miss us while we’re gone, let us know! And, you can always go back and visit some of older posts.
For your own lazy weekend online perusing, here are a few interesting reads I’ve run across recently:
When the Gospel of Minimalism Collides with Daily Life – Maybe it’s because we moved from 3,000 sq ft to 1,500 when we moved to CA, but I’ve been wanting to throw everything. I’ve also been drawn to more minimalist styling. But it always feel a bit cold and impersonal to me. This article totally hit the nail on the head for me.
If we weren’t going camping this weekend, I would absolutely make this strawberry graham icebox cake. It would be perfect for a Memorial Day cookout.
My sister and I are planning to run a half marathon this fall and I just started my training. I want to incorporate some HIIT and speed work into my training, and I think I might try out this simple interval workout.
Probably too late for Andria to pick one of these up for the beach, but I’ve been looking for a good memoir. I’ve bookmarked this list – I’ve read a couple of them already (Yes, Please and Why Not Me), and I’m particularly interested in the one by the Obama White House staffer.
Mr. Rogers’s Neighborhood was, and still is one of my favorite shows. The boys especially love the episode where you see how crayons are made. Check out Every Color Of Cardigan Mister Rogers Wore From 1979–2001. Call me nerdy, but this is super fascinating. Props to the tomato red sweater.
This got me thinking about my phone habits. Do you still talk on the phone? I admit I’m much more likely to text than talk these days. I blame in on the fact I’m an introvert and after a day of talking with my boys during all their waking hours, I just don’t have the energy for a conversation. But, the articles cited here make me wonder how generational shifts and technology are impacting our social norms.
I stumbled upon this Instagram account a couple weeks ago (apparently I’m way behind, she’s got quite the following!) I love her simple, clean style. The neutral base with the regular pops of red totally do it for me.
I also realize I’m way behind the game in this as well, but I’ve started watching Masters of None on Netflix and I’m hooked!
Have a wonderful weekend, folks, and we’ll see you back here in a week!
