It’s always fun to peek into someone else’s life, right? That’s probably why we’re addicted to reality tv! So, in the spirit of “real life”, I thought I’d give you all a little run down into what I’ve been up to the past few days.
First of all, I wanted to give a little update on the slow cooker post from last week. I made those chicken thighs again and it occurred to me that I kind of improvised on this recipe and didn’t share it in the original post! So here’s what I did – After the chicken thighs are finished cooking, I drained the sauce through a mesh strainer and then thickened it on the stove with a corn starch/milk mixture (equal parts). Usually 2 tablespoons of each will do the trick. Pour this gravy on top of your chicken and rice. This time I added peanuts and chopped green onions and it was so good!
I also made another batch of the granola recipe that I posted a while ago.
I’ve experimented with a couple different combinations of mix-ins, but the combo I like the most is raisins, dried and chopped apricots, toasted coconut chips and roasted pepitas. The last two sound really exotic, haha! I just got them at Aldi. Seriously though, get all of your nuts and dried fruits there. You’ll pay triple anywhere else!
I took a trip to the Goodwill this week. Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m a thrifty thrifterson. I love a good deal. Well, let me tell you…I scored this week at the Goodwill. I got a new Old Navy sweater, a pair of jeans, a workout top, a sweatshirt, a blue and white vase and some wicker baskets for my makeup drawer…all for $25!
Don’t judge these photos. I’m clumsy with selfies in the mirror, lol!
I love this top! It’s long enough to cover all your parts!
There’s a little pocket in the back too!
This sweatshirt is new from Green Tea
This vase! I’ve been looking for some larger vases because I have to re-pot my orchids. This one was $5! Yasss!
My makeup drawer needed some major organization. All of my stuff was just “floating” around. This drawer is very shallow, so most of the trays that you can buy were too tall and the drawer wouldn’t close. These baskets fit the bill! Yay for an organized drawer!
Powder Room Inspiration
Do you remember my powder room post? Unfortunately, not much has changed in that room. However, I have become re-inspired by Katie from Bower Power blog. Her post this week about how she updated her sister’s bathroom with Smart Tiles has me rethinking the whole tile and grout mess. Smart Tiles are peel-and-stick! What do you guys think about this???
I think I’m willing to give it a try. Does this make me a non-committal type??? Is this why I did faux shiplap? Ahh, maybe so.
