It’s done! It’s done! I am so excited to share these pics of our brand new patio! A couple of disclaimers before diving in….
#1. The patio needs to be styled! I plan to add pops of color with pillows, plants and maybe a few throw blankets around the firepit.
#2. Remember that DIY patio dining set I repainted??? Just try and look past it, lol! It’s not really the style I’m going for AND it’s several shades too bright. Oh well…we’ll replace it in due time.
Ok, so here it is…
This is the entrance onto the patio from the garage-side of our house.
I really like the fact that our landscapers planted some small bushes around the AC unit. They’ll grow up a little and provide some great camouflage!
One of our biggest requests to our patio builder was privacy. These bushes give us exactly what we need and soften the look of the patio at the same time. They’ll only grow another 4-6 inches before reaching full maturity. I’m so glad of that fact because I don’t want to have to keep after these guys every year with the hedge trimmers!
Along with privacy, we also requested that you would be able to “spill” out into the yard from the patio. It’s a nice option for overflow when you have a lot of guests, and it’s also easier with kids who want to have frequent yard races!
In the pic above, we have magnolia bushes surrounding the backside of the grill. They have gorgeous hot pink blooms. Most of the blooms got wiped out in a storm we had a couple of days ago. You can see some of the debris in the grass!
I had originally wanted a fireplace. However, that comes with a hefty price tag that left us a little shell shocked. Our builder suggested a gas firepit. I wasn’t sure at first because I’m a purist and I love real fire. I have to admit that just after 1 use, I was a convert. The ease of just turning a key and you have a fire cannot be beat! Also, you don’t stink afterwards…major bonus!
*Furniture Update* These couches and chairs are from World Market and I love them! We decided on them because of the comfort factor, but when we got them onto the patio, we realized that the colors coordinated really well. I seriously couldn’t have found a more perfect match! They are on super sale right now if you’re interested!
We bought this grill at an auction 2 years ago, but when we got it home, we realized that it was a natural gas grill, not the propane gas grill that was advertised. We were not able to return it and actually tried to sell it with no luck. On the off-chance that we might be able to incorporate it into our future patio, we kept it. I’m glad we did because it slides right into our grill surround and looks like it was meant to be there all along!

These chairs were originally intended to place in our sitting area, but we keep pulling them around the firepit for extra seating, which is so nice!
I can’t tell you how much we’ve been using this space since it was finished. Our neighbors probably think we’ve been sleeping out there too! I have to say, it’s one of the best investments we’ve made in our home and in our family time.
Remember what I said about styling the patio?? Let me know if you have any suggestions on color scheme. I’m thinking navy blue and white. Maybe large striped pillows with splashes of floral?
Stunning! I love all the choices and can say from having personally test driven the furniture, fire pit, and view (fireworks! fireflies!) I wouldn’t change a thing! My favorite detail is the black brick “pinstripe” around the edge. Classy!
I’m a true convert from wood deck to stone. No maintenance headaches year after year side from the great look! I like the option of a fluid shape to the patio floor. Landscaping couldn’t be better. Great job!!!
