I found this tutorial from Sherwin Williams for how to paint a door. It demonstrates the process for painting a door with detailed areas.
I used Sherwin Williams Black Fox in satin. This is my door in step “A”
Next, I took a small roller and painted all of the flat areas (in alphabetical order, as per the link above).
This is the first coat…I think it needs another, and another…ha!
I didn’t tape off any areas like the door knobs or around the edges because I have a pretty steady hand and a few small brushes to get into the corners. But, I would suggest taping around those areas if you’re unsure about your painting skills. The door ended up with 3 coats of paint and here’s the final result.
Before and After
The lesson here is that small changes can make a big impact! I’d love to get your feedback on this project…and let me know about some things you’re working on around your house!
