Fall Front Porch Inspriation

October 6, 2017 / Andria's House, Design / Andria

Every year, I’ve done little more than hang a wreath and put out a few pumpkins on the front porch when fall approaches.  It looks nice, but I wanted to up the ante a lit bit this year.  Like any other person seeking decor inspiration, I turned to Pinterest.  When it comes to holiday decor, there are countless (and I mean countless) pictures.

While looking through all of this creativity, I noticed that I was leaning towards a certain kind of of look.  I wanted my front porch to look real and authentic.  I also wanted it to keep this same look from Halloween through Thanksgiving.  So I gravitated toward a more natural look with pumpkins, mums, gourds, corn stalks, etc.

From these pictures, I decided on a few elements that would help me achieve the look I was going for.

Dried Hydrangeas

I have some hydrangea bushes in my backyard that are at the end of their blooming season, so I borrowed this idea from Homestoriesatoz.com and placed them in a planter with pumpkins on top.

I’m really liked the non-traditional look of the muted grays, blues, and whites in this arrangement!  Although I have a different color scheme, I like this so much that I may try it next year.

Antique Crocks

Oh.my.goodness.  These antique crocks are so pretty.  They’re authenic, non-kitschy, and most importantly, my mom had one that she wasn’t using, so I borrowed hers.  Score!

Corn Stalks

Dried corn stalks just feel like fall to me.  We are in corn country after all and because of that, these are super easy to come by.  I got a couple for $5 a piece at our local farm market.

Lanterns

There’s just something about a collection of lanterns that makes you feel welcome and at home.  I have a few that I placed on the front porch.  I think I’m going to buy the battery-operated candles though.  They’re so much easier and I don’t have to worry about a corn stalk catching fire, ha!

So, here we go…this is how my porch turned out with all of the above inspiration…

I love how this turned out and I think it will keep all season long.  I’d love to hear your comments and see some pictures of your fall porches!
